Ben Lankester

Ben is a London-based director and photographer who has travelled worldwide working within music, film and commercials.

In 2010 Ben founded The Progress Film Company with fellow filmmaker Matt Hopkins. Progress is a contemporary film studio comprised of 18 directors, producers and animators, all exceptional storytellers. Over nine years it has created award-winning commercials, digital content, animation, short film series and feature-length cinema under one roof.

As a director in commercials, Ben has worked on award-winning campaigns for brands as diverse as Hyundai, KitchenAid, Converse and Microsoft, while his work with luxury products and cars includes stunning ads for TAG Heuer X Aston Martin, and Land Rover, the latter through the brand’s iconic Hibernot campaign. Most recently, his short drama for Network Rail – released in cinemas this summer – proved a moving depiction of the dangers faced by young people trespassing on the railway.

In music, Ben has directed promos for unique British artists including Suede and I Like Trains, as well as international acts such as Lang Lang. His music reel includes More of the Same Tomorrow, a music video / short film hybrid shot in Warsaw, which explores man’s relationship with time, progress and destiny.

Ben is currently developing his first narrative feature following 2016’s music documentary A Divorce Before Marriage, which screened at festivals in the UK and Europe.
